I was listening to the dulcet tones of self-publishing guru Joanna Penn for most of yesterday evening and way into the night – that’s some lullaby! But I don’t regret a minute of it: what a fantastic resource she has created with Business For Authors – How To Be An Author Entrepreneur . I’m really glad I bought the audio version with the extra downloads, and Joanna’s little asides are lovely, reinforcing how very human and surprisingly humble she is despite her amazing achievements.
I’m going to have to listen to the whole thing again, this time in conjunction with the written version and workbook. Joanna has crammed in so much it’s like being put inside a self-publishing tumble drier: my head is buzzing with ideas, some of which I’d had before but had put on a back burner, others that are directly inspired by this book.
I think what I’m most blown away by are her revelations of how she manages her author-entrepreneur business. She is just so incredibly organised and businesslike! I’m hugely impressed – I’d recommend this book to anyone running any kind of creative business, not just writers and publishers.
A massive round of applause for what is bound to become the go-to reference work in the field. Well done Joanna!
