Just like everyone else who runs any kind of business on the internet, I’ve been busy over the last few days ensuring that I comply with the latest GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which comes into effect on 25th May. Trust me, this has been as tedious for businesses as it has for you having to receive dozens of very similar-looking emails and messages!
As part of this process, I have now added a Privacy Policy page to this site which you can read here or follow the link in the menu at the head of this site.
In fact, the only personal data I collect and hold for Henry Hyde Limited is related to business transactions. In other words, if you commission me to do work for you, such as to design a book cover or a logo, then obviously I will need such details as name, address, email address and so on in order to issue quotations and invoices, and to carry out the normal day-to-day correspondence that is normal for any project.
Under the British HMRC rules (that’s our tax and customs department), all such records must be kept securely for a period of six (6) years after the end of the financial year in which the transaction took place.
I don’t yet have a newsletter for my Henry Hyde Limited business, either as a designer or as an author, but if I were to start one, it would be covered by the new regulations.
